Nature

With its parks, caves and picturesque surroundings, Heidenheim is a place for all things green to sprout and bloom! If you enjoy spending your time outdoors to relax, Heidenheim really is the place to be, for the city is the most densely wooded in Baden-Württemberg.

Furthermore, the Brenzpark in the heart of the city is always worth a visit. You can easily relax and rewind there while taking a stroll or sitting in the sun.
The wildlife park Eichert on Castle Hill is situated in the middle of the forest, surrounded by its charming scenery. You will find generous, alpine-style game reserves with red, fallow and sika deer, ibexes, moufflons and wild boars. Explore the different game reserves on a short or long circular path!
The Birds of Prey Sanctuary is to be found in the heart of the wildlife park Eichert, too. You can watch red kites, buzzards and several owl species in their species-appropriate cages.
The environs of Heidenheim offer additional natural sites to discover like for example the Charlottenhöhle, one of the longest walkable show caves in South Germany. Eselsburger Tal Valley is fascinating for its rock formations and its unspoiled nature, whereas the Vogelherdhöhle Cave is of international renown for its archaeological findings.
